Generate Referrals

Generate Referrals From Past & Previous Clients

Out of all the clients that you do business with, a satisfied client with a settled tax debt might be the absolute best referral source. You just saved their financial wellbeing and they can live comfortably due to your direct efforts. They are extremely grateful to have chosen you to solve their IRS issues once and for all. They also may feel a slight obligation to you because you changed their life in a positive manner.

  • The referrals from this client are almost always likely to retain you as their go to person, so you can offer free consultations to all these referrals. When you receive the client’s IRS determination letter, be sure to contact the client with a congratulatory letter with your firm’s letterhead. This is the essential time to ask for a referral because people get busy, and the later you send it the lower priority it will become to them.
  • When a referred client arrives for their consultation, ensure that they walk out with brochures, business cards, and other small gifts to take away. If they have a phone consultation, mail them the information and mail the original client a personal thank you letter.
  • Define your client’s expectations and formulate a plan to exceed them.
  • Create a detailed list of what most clients expect and continually add to the list as your understanding of client expectations grow.
  • Try new ideas to see if they garner a positive reaction from clients, such as creating a suggestion box for everyone to voice their opinions.
  • It’s a great idea to ask current clients by using surveys, questionnaires, etc. to see what they want, need, like, and dislike. Then make improvements based on what feedback you receive from them.
  • If the referred client decides to hire you, ensure that you send the referring client a gift to show that you care deeply about their kind gesture. They may not be expecting it, which will make it more of a great gift once it is received. If a client takes the time to tell a referral how grateful they are of you, you must show them how grateful you are of them as well.
